Elizabeth Gonser has a broad-based commercial litigation practice that serves corporate, municipal, and individual clients.


Elizabeth practices in state and federal court, before the American Arbitration Association and the American Health Lawyers Association, and in concert with mediators and private arbitrators to reach favorable resolutions. Elizabeth regularly represents hospital systems in disputes with managed care payors, including cases involving improper underpayments and recoupments, Sequestration-related payment disputes, and medical necessity and other payment denials. Elizabeth has experience defending companies and their directors in shareholder litigation; representing music publishers, labels, and artists in copyright infringement actions; advising physician groups; and defending higher education institutions against Title VII and related claims.


Elizabeth graduated from Vanderbilt Law School, where she was the graduating class recipient of the National Association of Women Lawyers' Outstanding Law Student Award. She earned Best Oralist distinction in the Intramural Moot Court Competition and was the top competitor on the Jessup International Law Moot Court Team. Elizabeth graduated with honors from The George Washington University in 2001.


Before attending law school, Elizabeth worked in the communications and research division of an international non-profit based in Washington, D.C. Elizabeth continues to engage with her community: she previously served as Vice-President of the Board of Directors of a local non-profit focused on supporting middle and high school students; is an alumna of the Nashville Young Leaders Council; and was a member of The Belmont University College of Law American Inns of Court.


Elizabeth serves as the firm's Recruiting Partner. Elizabeth is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Vanderbilt Law School, where she teaches Advanced Evidence and Trial Advocacy.  Until recently, Elizabeth also served as co-chair of the Nashville Bar Association's Federal Court Committee.
